A Canadian work permit is the first year of your PR file, not the finish line.

LMIA, Global Talent Stream, intra-company, IEC, and open permits, filed by one team in association with RCIC professionals, with the Express Entry clock running from your first day at work. We pick the permit your job offer fits and the one your PR plan needs.

Six ways to work in Canada. We pick the one your offer and your PR plan fit.

Every permit below can feed Canadian experience into Express Entry. Some run through an LMIA labour-market test, some are LMIA-exempt, and some need no employer at all. The 2024 reforms tightened the LMIA (six-month validity, a 10% low-wage cap, refusals in high-unemployment areas), so we read the current rules before we file.

Canadian work permits

The permits we file most.

Every permit below can carry Canadian work experience into Express Entry. Each has its own sponsor rule and its own 2024-2025 update, and each deserves a read of the current rules before it is filed.

LMIA-Based Work Permit

The employer-run labour-market test for skilled roles no Canadian worker can fill. Since 2024 a positive LMIA is valid for six months and the low-wage stream is capped at 10% of a workforce, with refusals in high-unemployment areas. We draft the LMIA on the employer behalf and file inside the window.

Global Talent Stream (GTS)

The fast tech route for TEER 0/1 roles on the global talent list, with the government targeting a two-week LMIA service standard. Cat A for referred employers, Cat B for the listed occupations. We confirm the standard for your role before quoting a timeline.

Explore pathway

Intra-Company Transfer (ICT)

An LMIA-exempt mobility permit under the International Mobility Program, for executives, senior managers, and specialised-knowledge staff moving within a qualifying multinational group. Faster because no labour-market test is run.

Explore pathway

IEC Working Holiday

An open permit for young adults, typically 18 to 30 (18 to 35 for some countries), with no job offer required. Selection runs through the IEC pool, and quotas shift each year, so we check the live pool before advising on timing.

Explore pathway

Spouse / Family Open Work Permit

An open permit for the spouse of an eligible worker or student. Eligibility narrowed in January 2025: the principal must hold an eligible TEER 0/1 or priority TEER 2/3 role with at least 16 months left on their permit. We check both before filing.

Explore pathway

Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

The bridge from study to skilled work, valid for up to three years and tied to study length. Since November 2024 it requires CLB 7 for degree graduates or CLB 5 for college graduates, with college non-degree graduates in an eligible field.

How we match you to a lane

Four filing lanes. Every one feeds your Express Entry clock.

Through an LMIA
Through an LMIA

For skilled roles needing a labour-market test. We run the advertising, recruitment, and wage attestation, and draft the employer LMIA inside its six-month validity so the permit filing does not lapse.

Through the IMP
Through the IMP

Global Talent Stream, Intra-Company Transfer, and Francophone Mobility skip the labour-market test, so they move faster. We confirm the exempt category and file through the employer portal.

No employer needed
No employer needed

IEC, Spouse Open Work Permit, PGWP, and the Bridging Open Work Permit are eligibility-led, not employer-led. We map which open permit your profile wins before any filing.

The PR clock starts now
The PR clock starts now

Day one of work is day one of your PR file. We track Canadian Experience Class hours from week one, time the Express Entry profile for peak CRS, and bridge any status gap with a BOWP.

How a Canadian work file gets built

Four stages, sequenced to start your PR clock on day one.

Offer & LMIA fit

The job mapped to a NOC TEER code, the high- or low-wage stream checked, and the LMIA drafted on the employer behalf, or the LMIA-exempt category confirmed.

Work-permit filing

The employer-led (IMP) or worker-led (TFWP) filing, biometrics booked in advance, and the spouse and dependent study permits filed in parallel so the family arrives together.

In-status support

Renewals, employer-compliance upkeep, procedural-fairness responses, and a Bridging Open Work Permit if permanent residence is still being decided when status runs out.

Work to PR

Canadian Experience Class hours tracked, the Express Entry profile filed at peak CRS, a provincial nomination for 600 points where it fits, and then landing on the same case file.

Honest answers

The questions that decide your Canadian work-permit strategy.

  • LMIA and most LMIA-exempt employer streams do. IEC, the Spouse Open Work Permit, the PGWP, and the Bridging Open Work Permit do not. We map your eligibility against the open-permit options first, then the sponsored routes, so you do not chase a sponsor you may not need.

  • A positive LMIA is valid for up to six months, down from twelve, for applications from May 2024. The low-wage stream is capped at 10% of a workforce, and LMIAs can be refused in areas of high unemployment. We sequence every permit filing inside the six-month window so the employer does not have to restart.

  • The government targets a two-week LMIA service standard for the Global Talent Stream, and the work permit follows after that. It is a service target rather than a guaranteed timeline, so we use the standard language and confirm the current timeline for your role before quoting.

  • Often yes, but the Spouse Open Work Permit narrowed in January 2025. The principal worker must hold an eligible TEER 0/1 role, or a select priority TEER 2/3 role, with at least 16 months remaining on their permit. We check the principal role and the remaining validity before filing the spouse application.

  • Most do. A year of skilled (TEER 0 to 3) Canadian work builds Canadian Experience Class eligibility inside Express Entry, a provincial nomination can add 600 CRS points, and a Bridging Open Work Permit covers any status gap while permanent residence is decided. We run the permit file and the PR file in parallel from day one.

  • Intake into the Home Care Worker immigration pilots is paused, since December 2025, with no restart date set, so we do not file new caregiver applications until it reopens. Existing participants continue on their current path, and we flag the program so no one plans around a closed door.

  • Yes. As an employer-facing service we run the advertising and recruitment, draft the LMIA, and handle the employer-compliance side, separately from the worker permit filing. This is a Chase Global service, not a government program, and it is where most employer-side delays are avoided.
