Honest answers

The questions that decide your legal strategy.

  • You must be physically present for at least 1,095 days in the five years before you apply. Time spent in Canada as a temporary resident before becoming a permanent resident can count as half a day each, up to a maximum of 365 days. We audit your days against your travel history before filing.

  • Often, yes. We obtain the officer’s GCMS notes through Access to Information, identify the exact concern that drove the refusal, and decide whether to re-apply, request reconsideration, or seek judicial review at the Federal Court. The right route depends on what the notes say.

  • GCMS is the case-management system Canadian officers record their reasoning in. After a refusal, the notes tell us which document or fact the officer doubted. That is what makes a recovery succeed rather than repeating the same application.

  • There are remedies for criminal inadmissibility. A Temporary Resident Permit can authorise a specific trip, and Criminal Rehabilitation can clear the inadmissibility permanently once you are eligible. We assess which one fits your record and timing.

  • Yes. We commission affidavits, statutory declarations, and certified copies in Alberta, and we coordinate police clearance certificates and visa medical bookings as part of a file.

  • That is the point of keeping it on one case file. The team that filed your study, work, or residency application already holds your documents and history, so the citizenship, refusal, or inadmissibility work starts without rebuilding context.

A refusal has a clock. So does citizenship. Don’t let either run out.
